My life and everything in it

Sound Engineering

Since the age of 14, I have been involved in technically managing and operating productions of varying size. I have been involved in shows at local primary schools, right up to operating large-scale sound and lighting rigs for professional productions.

Vernon Productions

Aged 14, I was invited to take part in the operation of Vernon Primary School Productions, a yearly event involving children from the entire school putting on a production over 3 nights. Although these may sound like small productions - they were exactly the opposite! During my years doing this production, I have taken on a number of roles, including:

  • 2004 - Lighting Operator
  • 2005 - Sound Operator
  • 2006 - Sound Manager
  • 2007 - Sound Manager
  • 2008 - Technical & Stage Manager

I also assisted in the hiring and purchacing of equipment for these shows, culminating in me submitting a proposal for an entire new sound rig for the school, which was eventually accepted and purchaced.

Poynton High

During my time studying Music Technology at Poynton High School, I was involved in a vast array of Sound Engineering projects, ranging from multi-track recordings of bands in the schools studios, to large-scale gigs and events, again taking on varying roles. I was also involved in the 2006 production of 'The Wizard of Oz', the schools highest budgeted production to date, which involved a large amount of preparation for a show lasting 4 nights, with over 1000 tickets sold!

Van Mildert College

Since joining Van Mildert College at Durham University, I have been part of the 'PA Committee', responsible for any events happening in and around college, as well as external hires of equipment. During this time, I have operated for small events such as Open Mic and Jazz nights, right through to large-scale productions such as the recent production of 'Grease'.
